No updates on pinetab2 arch danctnix?
#1
Hi!
Very satisfied user of this device. The stock arch danctnix os is a joy to use both in tablet mode and with keyboard.
My only issue is with updates. They always seem to stop after a while. The usual
Code:
sudo pacman -Syu

that normally should give updates at least once a day, suddenly starts to state that all databases are up to date, there is nothing to do. This lasts for weeks.
I try every possible solution I can find, but end up reinstalling the danctnix factory image. And then updates are working again for a while. This have happened maybe four-five times since I got it summer 2023. It's normally not a huge problem, but this time reinstalling don't help. Now I havent recieved updates in maybe 3-4 weeks. Tried reinstalling a couple of times but I only get the initial updating and then it stops.
Does anyone else have this experience? Or can someone confirm that updating works for them? I would really appreciate to hear from you!

I haven't had this problem until about 2 or 3 weeks ago when it started.  That's a long time (years for me) without ever seeing this issue. I hope someone can chime in with how to fix this as I really would rather not have to flash an image if I didn't have to.

Hi, I also have this issue since a few weeks, on the pinetab and on a raspberry pi running ArchlinuxArm. I believe the issue is on this side of things.

If it helps, I found a thread discussing this on their forum : https://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic...15&t=17309

one of my few issues is that there is that I have not found a terminal friendly touch screen keyboard for up arrowing previous commands and tabbing out long names.

I might be able to help you some here. If you long press the "space bar" on the virtual keyboard you will get a touchpad. If you slide up you scroll through previous commands. Pressing lower left corner, or just waiting like 5 seconds takes you back to keyboard. Some other functions as well, e.g. copy/paste. Not sure about tab though.

In my case, wvkbd displays arrows and the tab key on its default layout and is rather usable on terminal.

OK so I have no idea how I lost my xterm virtual keyboard trying to find wvkbd(I am used to Debian not arch and phosh not plasma)
(edit above is fixed, goto virtual KB in KB settings set none, apply; set malit KB and apply)
I am assuming wvkbd requires package install vs playing with kb settings?(edit yes it is sudo pacman -S wvkbd)
but how to activate it? still just malit or none as options and I don t want to go hand-wiring something that will break updates.

Sorry, I have not (yet) tested phosh so I do not know how settings are managed there. I am using a custom shortcut on waybar (used on hyprland and niri WMs) that calls the binary installed (and another to kill it when not needed). That would be 'wvkbd-mobintl' if I remember well (I will check tonight).

However, I have not tested on plasma if it is as well integrated as maliit (i.e. automatically appears when selecting an input field).
