Soft vs. hard Pinephone case?

Having ordered a Pinephone with the convergence package I'm looking at some accessories like screen protector and case. I see there are both hard and soft shell cases. Pros and cons of each? Which protects better against dropping? (Though they're cheap enough, I could just order one of each.) Hopefully a case with a belt attachment will be offered at some point.

I ordered a soft case so that I could show off my UBPorts logo, and later if they live up to the promise of selling branded replacement cases probably a Manjaro or Arch logo

it seems sturdy enough and protrudes from the front giving some moderate screen protection but i wouldn't bank on it without a screen protector

The hard case likely offers more protection in the event of a drop, but there is no lip surrounding the front of the phone.

To protect the screen, buy a tempered glass screen protector - be aware that screen protectors sold by PINE64, or sold for the compatible iPhone XS Max, will exhibit air bubbles.

Thanks - looks like the soft case with the screen protector is the way to go. I have the same kind of thing on an old 1st-generation Samsung Nexus running CyanogenMod I was given that I've been using just as a camera. The screen protector has a few bubbles but after a while they were not noticeable unless I thought to look for them.

I'm looking at some accessories like screen protector and case.

I got the hard shell and glass protector from pine64 but found a universal folder book type case at a phone kiosk (no part number on it, recycled the box) which protects my pinephone pretty well.  Right now my pine is not quite an everyday phone but I think this will work for now.

Hard cases are heavier, soft cases are lighter. I don't see any other difference. I'm using a hard case and feeling more safe.

I prefer the soft case. On the hard case the parts that covers the buttons seems more fragile and after some months of use they fell off. But maybe that's just because I use the buttons a lot with sxmo.
