thanks, it worked. Now I just need to figure out how to connect to my windows laptop.

Windows Home doesn't allow RDP'ing in (by license, it can be done though), and with Windows 10 Pro, you will need to configure windows to allow remote connections. Just type "remote" in the start menu, and the corresponding "allow remote access" (or similar) settings entry should come up.
