Ubuntu 18.4??

Well, I need a working computer, so I haven't tried to do anything in terms of major updates (except for apt-get update and upgrade) to my Pinebook. But now that I might see the 11" Pinebook soon, I would like to have a working Pinebook with a not as ancient Linux version on it.
How is 18.4 doing? Is it worth updating? Will it keep at least the features that are currently working with the Pinebook? Will it add more (useful) features as Mali support or DRM?
If the answers to my questions are "yes" .... how do I upgrade? Just follow the Ubuntu built-in update process? I fear that it won't set up a proeper Kernel and a working U-boot... or not?

Both Ubuntu 18.04 and 18.10 work fine, I have tried both of them and it runs without problem. You just need to follow standard upgrade procedure.

Do they come with a new(er) Kernel or still with 3.10?
Any of the problems with graphics acceleration and DRM solved?

The kernel stays the same, it does not upgrade, because it does not use the kernel from Ubuntu repo.

I think that all the problems stays (un)solved, but did not check the acceleration and DRM specifically, I think that DRM does not work (Spotify) and acceleration also stays in the same state as before.

Which is unsatisfactory.
Since those problems are prevalent since ... well, since the inception of Pine64, there will be no solution?

I am not sure which problem do you mean, I guess you are talking about DRM, but I think that graphics performance is quite good. I do not need to play the games. At least, I am glad that I can run the latest packages without a problem.

As stated, 3d acceleration and support of DRM. I do a bit of 3d designs for my 3d printer.
