Bricked my Rock64

@Luke : the force is definitely not with you Wink

All the links you gave are wrong or "expired" (the second one rely on some AWS account credentials, which may compromised your account by the way as there are plenty of stuff in the URL), instead, this one is almost good, jump to the right u-boot-flash-spi-<SBC>.img.xz image on the bottom of the list.

(I'm one with the force...)

...anyhow....if someone can point me to the precise image that should recover my device....I will be beyond grateful.  I went so far as to trying to set up a dev environment in Ubuntu to communicate directly with the Rock64 via USB....but I got nowhere...

How did you get on?
I'm asking because I use an Odroid XU4 and an Asus Tinker Board, and so far feel that the Rock64 4gb is the best of the bunch, as far as desktop performance is concerned, although the Tinker Board is the more stable of the three. This comes down to four things, to me anyway:
  1. The software seems more mature on the Rock64. I found getting things to work properly on the Odroid, quite hard work despite some excellent work put in by the community. The Tinker board Linaro OS seemed more polished and the machine ran faster than the Odroid even though it ran off an SD card. On paper the Odroid had superior performance but in practice this was not so. Just time how long The Gimp takes to load on each board.
  2. 4GB RAM avoids those moments when the SBC simply runs out of "puff", if I can put it that way.
  3. An eMMC speeds things up in both the Odroid and the Rock 64, plus only the Odroid and Rock64 have USB3.
  4. Both Tinker board and Rock64 fit neatly into the Raspberry Pi 3 Aukru Case with Cooling Fan
  5. The Rock64 power barrel connector resolves power supply issues associated with the micro USB power connector
At least those are my findings so far but I've not had the Rock64 for long.
