Product Idea : PineProbe

I would love to see a mini usb scope that I could use on my pinephone !

Preferably a small probe (pen like), something like picoscope 2105 (discontinued) or bitscope 05

Problem with the latter two is that software is not opensource, they offer binaries for arm based distributions, but only in 32bits and so they won't work on pinephone

About the capabilities ?
 - It should be able to analyze CAN/I2C/SPI so 2MHz bw at least (might be on the edge for 500k CAN) ...
 - 1 analog and 2/4 logic ways per probe and the ability to plug a second probe to the first one to sync channels
 - usb-c

There was a video of someone using a softscope on the pinephone, I've not found it again. Do someone have a link ?

Found a bitscope bs05 at work and could try it on the pinephone.

Guys at bitscope told me that arm64 package might be ready in may (they still have problems with graphics)

I've been able to try the armhf package by adding the architecture (via dpkg --add-architecture) on my first pinephone (won't use my main one for that Wink

The app runs and the scope is correctly powered by the phone.

The logic analyser works ok, but I had some display trouble with the digital osciloscope (dso) application, it doesn't show me the trace, which is anoying for a scope Wink (tried also using xorg but it is not a xwayland problem) hope the work on arm64 version corrects that ...

It seems a good way to have a portable scope in your pocket.

taken this photo from my main pp (don't mind the mess)

You can develop on using the Pinecil breakout board.

Great ! I had not cared to dive into the pinecil specs but it seems it has been designed to do more than a simple iron Wink

In the end there is no need for a pineprobe because with the good frontend pinecil would fill that space ...

I was about to buy some pinecones, but I might also add a pinecil and a pinecil bob to the cart ...
