| [Article] RTOS on a RISC-V SBC: Star64 JH7110 + Apache NuttX |

Apache NuttX is a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) that runs on many kinds of devices, from 8-bit to 64-bit. (Think Linux, but a lot smaller and simpler)
In this tutorial we’ll boot NuttX on a 64-bit RISC-V Single Board Computer (SBC): Pine64 Star64, based on the StarFive JH7110 SoC.
If we're...
- Seeking a simpler, lighter Operating System for our RISC-V SBC (Alternative to Linux and Unix)
- Or just keen to learn how a RISC-V SBC boots from scratch
Then read on!

USB mouse isn't working when a PP keyboard is attached? |

OS: PostmarketOS 23.06 with the latest updates
Hardware revision: most likely 1.2 something
PP keyboard's firmware version: 1.3, the latest
PP keyboard revision: unknown, but bought this year
PP firmware of a USB chip: the latest version from a link at https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone#F...X_firmware
U-Boot: the latest version by this instruction https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/PineP...ot_Upgrade
I wanted to use PP as a netbook - by adding the official PP keyboard, as well as a USB mouse by a simple OTG cable (which doesn't have to be powered). The PP keyboard manual says " The PinePhone’s USB-C port remains operational when mounted in the keyboard and can be used for data and peripherals. "
However, when a PP keyboard is attached, the PP doesn't see a USB mouse - i.e. no events at dmesg kernel log. But the same USB mouse with the same OTG cable is working fine if I remove a PP keyboard.
This mouse has a built-in LED, which is OFF when a PP keyboard's battery is disabled and is ON when a PP keyboard's battery is enabled.
So I assume that enabling the built-in keyboard's battery somehow helps. But still can't get a successful mouse+keyboard experience. Other USB devices aren't working too when a PP keyboard is attached. Any ideas?

Hi
I will try to sum up the things that Oren & Co over at
https://t.me/utonpine
is doing and the things you need to do to have the best exprience on your pine64 device.
The focus at the moment will be on Pinephone, Pinephone Pro, Pinetab and Pinetab 2.
This post will be updated when new things gets developed.
PINEPHONE & PINEPHONE PRO
You need Tow-boot on the emmc to install Ubuntu touch on your phone:
https://tow-boot.org
These procedures is still valid to install UT on your phone:
https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-news-1/...stall-3889
Here you will find the latest version to install:
https://ci.ubports.com/job/focal-hybris-...ob/master/
From Oren on Telegram channel:
These are our images, ready for your usage, building daily. I’m still figuring out how we will have these distributed. I’ll be updating my gitlab page, the pine64 wiki, and the ubports wiki in the next few days pointing to here, most likely.
You can select last successful artifacts or click on the “+View” button, then click to download the .raw.xz file of your respective device. then flash it in the same way as our downstream images.
Please note: these are still r/w and still have to be upgraded through apt. However, you should notice multiple improvements with ContentHub, the modem, and even GPS support.
For the moment apt is working on these devices.
To update your phone, run this in the terminal on your phone:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y
Enter your password and press enter
This is done between the releases that Oren makes on his Gitlab page.
To have the latest version of UT, always make a new, fresh install of the latest version from Orens Gitlab page.
These are not pushed through apt. This will persist as long as we don’t have OTA on the phones.
It is recommended to update the modem(SDK) and its firmware(ADSP).
You need to have ADB and Fastboot installed on your PINEPHONE to install these:
https://github.com/the-modem-distro/pine.../tag/0.7.2
https://github.com/the-modem-distro/pine...ARRIERS.md
The Modem-SDK release version 0.7.4 is more buggy/instable than 0.7.2.
The modem is like a computer and it talks adb and fastboot, that is why you need adb and fastboot installed on your phone.
If your carrier is not listed in the table on the ADSP-page, you’ll have to check which firmware that works best for your carrier. I don’t know when the table over the carriers was last updated, newer versions of the firmware could be a better experience.
If your carrier isn’t listed and you install a firmware that works with your carrier, please make a pr so it gets on the table.
On this Github there is a lot of help to get things set up in the right/best way, Such as Flashing, Settings, How to, etc. Please read it.
Oren have made a Help guide to help you along the way of tinkering with your phone/tablet:
https://gitlab.com/ook37/pinephone-pro-d...Help-Guide
PINETAB & PINETAB 2
According to the 0.8 release, both the Pinetab and Pinetab 2 have U-boot preloaded, they don’t use Tow-boot to boot.
Here is the latest version of UT, 0.10 in the writing:
https://gitlab.com/ook37/pinephone-pro-d...ases/v0.10
Please leave a comment if there is something missing ?

Hi,
I am new here.
I've got a Rockpro64 2.1 running Armbian_23.5.1_Rockpro64_bookworm_current_6.1.30.
I am beginning to like it. Looks robust and got a ton of connectors.
It's going to be my NAS.
But... How to I power it on?
The POWER button shuts it down, but it doesn't turn it on again.
Do the POWER/RESET headers behave the same as the physical buttons?
What is the current state of WoL?
I only found that it is unclear why it doesn't work.
There are a few cool ATX heads from Tim Tibbets:
https://www.tindie.com/products/tomtibbe...-module-4/
I am not sure if they would work with the Rockpro64.
He told me they backpower the raspberry PI through the GPIO connector, so via 5V I guess.
thanks
Jan

| pinephone texting ability goes in an out |

Hi,
My pinephone's ability to receive texts seems to go in an out on a timescale of months. This is actually the third post I've made about this issue. I got a lot of help in the first two threads, linked below, but we weren't actually able to solve the problem. In both cases the texting ability mysteriously returned. I'm fairly sure that I didn't do anything to help the matter, in either case:
forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=16939
forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18296
I should also note that this is not an issue with the carrier, since I have two sim cards with different carriers, and the problem seems to affect them both. One idea that came up was a "clogged" modem, which an be purged. In the more recent thread, was ideas were suggested to purge the messages from the modem. However, the modem seemed to be empty
Code: mmcli -m any --messaging-list-sms
No sms messages were found
However as of today this has changed, with no actions on my part:
Code: mmcli -m any --messaging-list-sms
/org/freedesktop/ModemManager1/SMS/29 (received)
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? My phone is working fine now, actually, but I'm afraid that it will go out again.

I installed Phosh on my new¹ pinephone but now I can't remember the pin/password.
And I thought that I installed it on the SD card but it appears that I actually installed it on the EMMC.
I tried to reinstall with sxmo but the phone won't boot on the SD card, it keeps booting on the EMMC.
Everybody tells me that it should boot on the SD card by default, but it doesn't (even when I press the volume button down at start).
Am I doing something wrong ?
How to check what's the problem ?
¹ Well, new since many months now, but I haven't used it yet
