Thanks BC
Question :
Above the .img.gz download :
ubuntu-touch-pinephone.img.bmap 3.98kb
ubuntu-touch-pinephone.img.gz 1.01GB
What is the ' img.bmap 3.98kb ' download for ?
The bmap is an xml file with info on which blocks of the image file actually contain data. An image writing tool that understands it can copy only the necessary data, speeding up writing and saving flash write cycles. The original imager is bmaptool, found in the bmap-tools package on ubuntu. The command would look something like:
Code: bmaptool copy --bmap mapfile.bmap imagefile.img.xz /dev/sdX
Etcher can apparently use them if the .img, .bmap and a metadata file are all correctly packaged in a zip, but there's an open bug saying it currently makes performance worse not better.
I just wanted to mention something in case anybody has the same issue I did. When I first flashed Ubuntu Touch to my SD card it booted up just fine but when it came time for me to try that password "phablet" it didn't work. I tried multiple times and made sure I was spelling it correctly. What I ended up doing was simply restarting the phone and then trying it at the lock screen and it worked and would then allow me to change it after. Using build 226 if that matters.

Hi All!
So I flashed UT onto my SD card and when I switch on the phone I can just see the booting animation but the OS does not boot, it seems to be stuck.
I followed Rob's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0FMW72_OYc
Do you guys have any idea, what I might do wrong?
Thanks!

So I waited and waited and waited and it eventually appeared. But it very-very slow. I could not complete the initial swipes, so now I restarted, let's see where it gets me. I guess my SD card is too slow, so that is why it takes appr. 10-15 minutes to load. I'll buy a newer one, it will be better, I am sure.

- Download the rootfs image from https://ci.ubports.com/job/rootfs/job/rootfs-pinephone/
- Extract and write the image to an SD card
- Plug SD card into phone
- Boot phone

Golly, This OS seems to be improving with each release,
However, they are getting harder to actually "DOWNLOAD" !
This Feb. 25, 2020 download edition, I have attempted to download over 40 times.
The first attempt almost finished before saying "failed"
NOW, the downloads "Fail" after a few seconds to a few minutes .
The download speeds vary considerably, as high as 3mb/sec down to 150 kb/sec.
A server problem, or just too many people trying to download it at the same time ?
ANY Suggestions ?

I can only speak for myself here, It downloaded super fast for me. I'm on my work connection now and download speed was well over 10mb/s.

I don't know If this is going to work, I kept hitting 're-try' when ever it said 'failed' after a dozen retries I finished the down load for todays release....
I much prefer one complete non-stop download, guess I will see.
I had also switched from my Dell to my ANSI PBP, to see if a different computer made any difference.

I could download it without problems (above 10 Mb/s).
I have enabled modem, disabled WLAN and also enabled mobile data to see if mobile network works.
It worked anyway but then I have disabled mobile data and enabled WLAN but still mobile data was active.
Also, I could not re-enable WiFi even after reboot.
I have tried another system (Sailfish OS), WiFi worked there. Then Ubuntu Touch again and WiFi was not working.
After re-flashed my card, it worked again.
So far this distribution seems to work the best - UI works well, sound can be enabled, modem also can be enabled, phone call is working (however, there is no sound for me yet).
