Yet another thread on ROCK64 Wifi Adapter Woes
#1
This thread is related to troubleshooting the use of the Edimax EW-7811Un 150Mbps 11n Wi-Fi USB Adapter

This is a cross-post from the IRC channel:

I've been searching around the Rock64 (and Pine64) forums as well as the larger internet and havent' found the answers to solve my issues. I have a fresh Rock64 2Gb. Installed ayufan's 5.x image of stretch minimal onto eMMC. Works well enough but doesn't seem quite stable enough for my needs. I'm a techie. I'm patient. I recognize the amazing work ayufan has put into this so not going to complain about performance for a while.

My issue: I have a Edimax USB Wifi adapter that the kernel recognizes, I can configure via wicd but simply won't connect to my Access Point. Checked all the settings to make sure I didn't fat-finger the WPA-2 key. I just can't get it to work. Any help with troubleshooting would be appreciated.

I'll cross-post to the ROCK64 forum if that would be easier for async responses.

There is a related post here for a different adapter:

Try adding this to /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf

[device-mac-randomization]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no

You will likely need to HUP or restart the service (or just reboot).
