Reduce battery use

New to smartphones. After several days of frustration Arch is working reasonably well, except that it takes a lot of battery power. Is there some way to reduce this or is there another distro that is less demanding? Perhaps an external battery pack?

maybe you give some kind of description of battery life, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 2 hours, 10 hours, etc? also do you use suspend and/or keyboard case?

assuming no keyboard case.
if no suspend is used and no mobile data, then i think 4-6 hours.
if no suspend and mobile data is used, then i think 2-3 hours.
if suspend, then i think 1 day approximately.

keyboard case brings more hours.
