Included screen protector's protection is hard to notice
#1
Even though I received my PinePhone Braveheart months ago (albeit not using it as my daily driver), I just noticed that there are actually 2 screen protectors layered. The top one should be removed because it gets scratched very fast. Hence I thought the screen protector was of poor quality where as it does not seem to be actually. This info could be made clearer somewhere (in the box and/or in the store ?). Idea

My braveheart had a sticker on the top layer of film that said to remove it after application - presumably of the protector underneath. I peeled carefully since someone mentioned the protector underneath came off with it when they tried, and didn't have any problems.

The Braveheart batch had plastic screen protectors applied, underneath the protector is the glass panel.

Plastic screen protectors scratch easily - if you want reasonable protection, try the new glass screen protectors sold in the PINE store. You could also try iPhone XS Max protectors, but in my experience they suffer from the 'halo effect.'

I don't know if future models will continue to include the plastic protector. Perhaps direct this question to @Luke ?

I'm actually kind of curious about this. I have the UBPorts CE pinephone and my screen protector scratches really easily, like... my *fingers* scratch it.

Did my phone come with a plastic one or with the glass one that's in the parts store?

@stemplet Definitely plastic; plastic screen protectors scratch easily.

If your fingers are scratching glass, you've either got big problems, or really big advantages.

The screen protector comes with its own protector which you are supposed to remove before using the phone.

I kept mine on and managed to find a good folio case. My "protector's protector" is still largely intact with only very minor scratches. Only if it becomes bad, I will use the real protector underneath.
