I visited the thread but did not check the view count first. After viewing the thread, it said 58. I think you wanted me to check the count before and after.

Thank you.

I've tested yesterday, impossible to increase the counter, like you.

If nothing is done, the thread will disappear.

I think it's a abnormal situation . to Are you agree ?

Bought in mid February 2021
First symptoms: 12.06.2021
Unusable: 02.08.2021

This day I submitted ticket in mentioned zoho system

I got no reply. Now is 23 days.

I'm not sure how to read this and what to do now...
I'm coder, linux passionate and regular user, so I have no problem with OS as I understand that it's not trivial to make it work smoothly.
I'm just disappointed with this defect and Pine64 reaction.

Maybe it's time to?
- make statistic about what % of pinephones overall have this defect
- post result on main page and warn new customers
- ask some article writers like linmob, linuxsmartphones to help with making statistics and spread this thread.

I live in country where authoritarian regime is booming, I've also bought pinephone to protect myself from massive surveillance as journalists explored some worrying facts, also I have no possibility to leave now.

Please also consider it might be a big problem for people that doesn't earn money in $.
For $ people pinephone is no cost and they can just buy new one.
For me after convert (including tax and shipping) it costs like 1050$ for you which is price of at least 2 times better mid-range smartphone.
but I think the better comparsion is: this is costs of 1/3 average income in this country, where 2/3 goes for just life which is: paying rent, installments, groceries, fuel etc.

Please don't get me wrong, I love that project I watch how it develops prettily, I also develop apps for Linux mobile.
I just want Pine64 takes it seriously and be aware what is the real target audience of Pinephone.

That's probably the best bet, actually. If PINE64 themselves refuse to acknowledge the issue as is then some of the prominent community members might help bring some attention to it.

New LCD screen for PinePhone is $34.95 + shipping (USD).

If you bought it as a community offered (discounted) phone then the warranty is ultra limited and fixes are DIY.

If you bought it as a retail phone (+$100 over community price) then complaints might mean something.

For me : shipping (USD) + cost for a transaction in $ and not in € + taxe in Europe.

I would know to fix my PinePhone with the DIY way, but without reply from the Pine64's support, it's impossible.

My PinePhone CE Manjaro (Convergence) was since day one, very carefully handled, never left in humid, hot or extra cold environment, never direct sunlight, I have never opened the case other than installing a SIM card and removing/re-inserting battery etc.. the device never fall out of my hand, never was left in the back pocket while sitting or not even the front pocket or a bag, nothing that can put any tension on the parts or the casing.. from day one only charged using an original Pine64 charger that was purchased directly from Pine64 plus only using the original cable that came with the device, the inlet for charging is going through a surge protector etc... the whole nine yards and more.

Starting from about a month ago, my screen have a complete column of pixels on the screen dead, a complete dead pixels line from the bottom to the top at a specific position...

Sure, the screen in theory can be replaced, a process that has some sort of instructions somewhere (forgot the link), and the replacement screen costs about $40 if I am not mistaken, the few who tried and successfully replaced their screens did not achieve it without a considerable amount of sweat and tears though...

but how about why such a lightly used device is having his screen go crap after such a small period of time? (my Pine brand new was received on Dec 2020, and was used very partially as a daily driver only starting from April 2021)

Is it a B-Class screen being installed? (which would make me very angry if it does) can we identify this on the hardware?

There is a huge difference between 2-3 pixels going dead, and a whole column from top to bottom going dead at once - which might hint that the screen part was either flawed in some way or was indeed a 2nd selection (or B-Ware type) part.
