Pinephone battery outside US

Am I very interested in buying a Pinephone (now that it is available in the store) but as I live in Japan it seems I wouldn't be able to buy any battery (amazon will not help too). I would like to know if there is any work for trying to ship the battery to other countries.

I know the legislation is quiet harsh since some accidents with batteries in planes but as they are made in China it would be nice to ship them in Asia (China itself obviously, South Korea and Japan by boat should be OK).

The part numbers for compatible Samsung batteries are in the wiki. You should be able to get these locally. There are some reports that some plastic may need to be shaved from these to fit properly - it's not clear yet whether that's because they're 3rd party batteries that aren't quite to spec, or if there minor differences in things like the protrusions that stop the battery falling out when you take the back cover off.

Shipping company or Post no longer accept "naked" battery shipment for international shipping.

How do you get the battery to the US? Will it be possible to send them "non naked" in the future?

I don't understand why the Pinephone can ship with a battery but the (naked) battery by itself cannot be shipped? That does not make a lot of sense. At least not to someone stupid like me
