How to stop it turning on
#1
Hello,
The PinePhone automatically powers on when plugged in. While I know there are workarounds and suggestions like "using a better charger," I’m not interested in those.

What I’d like to know is:

Is there a command I can enter in the terminal to prevent it from doing that, so it only turns on when I press the power button?

It is designed to power on when plugged in. The OS is needed to properly charge the battery.

this happens in a hardware level and cannot be switched off by software. even android devices power on by usb cable, but they go to charging mode instead of normal boot

in theory, software could detect usb cable and go charging mode. maybe in towboot.

If you have it installed use tow-boot where you put it into the blue-light USB storage mode and can charge it, just boot with the vol+ button held and you can charge from a charger, with computer you can also access the EMMC(including encrypted disc if you have the password) via USB if required. https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_P...ly_drained
there is also a specialized pinephone charging bootable SD card image
