Hi,
When i unboxed the phone, tried to update, nothing. Followed these instructions ( https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=12459) got it working and updated via terminal.
Upon rebooting, everything working except settings app, terminal and a few other programs i don't use.

Best if you reflash a newer image, either by the USB Mass Storage or by microSD card. The instructions can be found here: https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_Pro#Software

I got my pine phone pro recently and have been trying several operating systems. I have found that a microSD card or two is/are good to try things out with. Systems are not developed yet to the point where there is just a goto configuration that works for everything.
The terminal or console apps have all worked for me. Sometimes it takes patience to get them running. Perhaps it will take some time to get going or perhaps the first try won't take. Ditto with settings.
I have had the most success with mobian and arch. Right now arch. With arch you install the os and then do an upgrade with pacman to get the current system.
I am getting good information from the matrix discussion.

You might want to try distributions which are more stable, such as Mobian. Make sure you flash images to the whole disk and not to partition 1.
