Unfortunately this seemed to be the case for everybody in this thread (including me) who commented on that except the first person who reported it. Support just mentions the expired warranty and that's it. So I'm afraid it's a pretty safe assumption by now.
To give an update on the screen replacement: I replaced my screen in 09/2021 and it has not shown any signs of delamination so far. That's about 8 months so far whereas the old screen started showing signs after around 5 or 6 months. But I also haven't used the phone as much anymore in the past couple of months.
