I suppose I should have listed what version I used.
I used the Release 20160415 Beta found at:

I'm going to re-download and try it again.
I have a similar issue using the same version, the only difference is I have the wifi/bluetooth module. Everything seems incredibly slow, which is a shame as I do like the UI. After everything is loaded I cannot get an internet connection even though it shows 4 bars of signal strength.
