you can vary this design a bajillion different ways, you can buy a LSI controller and an old server BP and accomplish the same thing. if enough people want it, i can probly post it on someplace for people to download the STL's and such.

not really sure much would be interested in it, but as a datahoarder it was a very cost effective bulletproof and silent solution for me.
