You'll find the proximity sensor is U1201, located between the LED that you may see at boot, and the headphone socket. It contains an infrared LED and a light sensor which, among other things, reacts when the infrared reflects back into the light sensor off a nearby object, such as the side of your head when you're holding the phone to your ear and don't really want the touch sensor working or the screen backlight wasting power. You can even take the phone apart to see if it's there on the pcb, and how it compares to the cameras.(07-21-2020, 07:41 PM)Danct12 Wrote: The blinking purple light you saw on the camera is the proximity sensor.
Bullshit, proximity exactly to what? Also, unless I have some one off version then I imagine they all have this. As far as the facial recognition comment why wouldn't this be listed in spec notes/ be something that a niche of people are working on improving like the actual camera, or the excessive heat problems???

Silly link but prove me wrong....
Also anyone have a link to design schematics? I bet it's not on there or not labeled.
Edit: the wiki link to the datasheet is broken. Manufacturer's product family page:
