Are you sure your board is not overheating maybe? Are you using heatsink? What is the temperature?
Also I think Apoletalk might requires some kernel modules. I am pretty sure they are not included in the longsleep kernel.
There is an older version of netatalk in Debian, it is always good idea to start with apt-get build-dep netatalk, to install some dependencies for build first. But it looks you managed to compile it.
