I just looked at the monitor, and it needs a (Windows or OS X) driver since the display controller is inside the display and driven with compressed image data preprocessed by a display driver residing on the Mac or Windows PC.
Always stop when looking at USB display solutions unless it's USB type C and it's mentioned that one of the alternate data modes (DisplayPort) is used and NOT USB. Only then a 'USB attached display' can be driven the 'usual way'.
