I'd gladly invest in an "open" smartwatch that might resemble the excellent NO.1 D5, simple design and great value.

Any plan ?
Perhaps some day, but it is not planned at this time.
Please plan it, and call it the "wrist - pinephone" with ...
- Lignux
- SIM,
- 5G (it will not be soon)
- Signal - or similar - to replace Whatsapp
- voice to text for texting and as interface instead of keyboards,
- integrated microphone and speakers as the actual hands free for phones
- Internal USB-c with optional small USB SDDs - better than SD cards -
- Privacy fitness and running Lignux apps
-
- A more expensive model with camera for video conference with signal or similar, for selfies and some picture
I think most smartwatch models failed because of they had to be connected to a Smartphone
Even using some cheap old model Lignux compatible to sell it rebranded as the wrist - pinephone - a real smart watch as it is a wrist computer - would be great.
Most of the time most people do not need a 6" inch screen and device, plus running, swimming, or even walking on the street phone calls or signal texts are better for this kind of device that I think failed because of the lack of easy "speech to text" for messaging apps
