I have received a USB-C docking stick with my Manjaro Community Edition which was apparently dead on arrival (it doesn't show up in dmesg/lsusb and is not recognized under other OS's either). Unfortunately I didn't check it thoroughly at first, attributing the problems to the well-known issues of the PinePhone with regards to USB-C PD and HDMI over USB-C (hardware and software deficiencies). Upon contacting the support now, I was told the dock is out of warranty. I proposed to donate it to Pine64 for recycling/refurbishing but was denied.
1) Has anyone tried to disassemble the item? The aluminum enclosure seems to be very snug.
2) Would anyone be interested in it for experimenting (the item untampered and looking as new)? I can arrange mailing across the US for free.
3) As the last alternative, what would be the best way to dispose of it as e-waste?
