I put Maemo Leste on the sd card, ran it and it really works on the pinephone. The images are from an older system where QtWebBrowser could not be installed but Chromium worked. When typing on the virtual keyboard, the font didn't show up in Chromium, but it could be highlighted, copied, and pasted.
Phone calls even work, SMS can be sent and received and will appear in conversations. Connection via the operator's mobile data also works, but the APN context must be set after starting the system for the first time. I don't have a physical pinephone keyboard, so I had to turn off PP and modify the sd card in PC.
It is still not comfortable to use, but a significant improvement can be seen.
