The visual voicemail app seems to work so far. It actually lets me listen to my voicemails directly from the app with dialing my voicemail.

Really a pretty handy app.

I am using Mobian on the PinePhone and don't receive voicemail notifications with the French mobile network operator Free Mobile. However it was implemented several years ago in Sailfish OS on Jolla smartphone.

Here is some useful information I found on https://together.jolla.com/question/8779...t-id-38827:
Quote:The voicemail notification missing on Jolla seems to work with quiet SMS (not show to the user) with special values in fields TP-PID (67) and TP-DCS (241) or some informations specified in the TP-User-Data-Header (parameter ENHANCED_VOICE_MAIL_PDU_TYPE).
After that, an icon of a tape must be shown on the home screen.
All this details were added to the 3GPP 23.040 specification in 2004 : http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/tsg_t/TSG_T/TSGT...040094.pdf

It was possible to see the voicemail notification in a DBus signal (using oFono and the VoicemailWaiting variable) and it was fixed:

How can we get voicemail notifications on the PinePhone (with mobile network operators that are using which seems to be a quiet SMS)?

Update: I also added a comment in the ModemManager issue mentioned in a previous comment:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-br...issues/429
When I try the visual voicemail app (vvmplayer which is using vvmd) and enable VVM in preferences, there is an error "Could not enable VVM". I can also see "Provision Status: Blocked" in the app and receive an SMS "STATE?state=NotAvailable". Maybe it is a restriction from my mobile network operator because they say only Android, iOS and Windows Phone are supported for visual voicemail. But in any case, receiving at least a voicemail notification (without visual voicemail) should be possible like on Sailfish OS.

Update 2: I was able to receive visual voicemail by enabling visual voicemail for the iPhone on the website of my mobile network operator.
However receiving visual voicemail requires mobile data to be enabled. In case it is not enabled, we receive at least a voicemail notification as an SMS "MBOXUPDATE?m=1" even if vvmplayer and vvmd are not installed (https://forums.puri.sm/t/voicemail-on-l5/9224/10).
So this is a good workaround but the best solution would be to be able to receive voicemail notifications without enabling a visual voicemail setting on the website of the mobile network operator (like done with oFono for Sailfish OS).
