Bigger batteries for the Pinephone?
#1
I found here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaNzPooIWsU&t=76s the information, that the batteries of the Pinephone can be replaced by bigger ones. In the Pinephone Wiki there is the information, that the Pinophone batteries have the form-factor of Samsung J7 batteries. For some smartphones there are bigger batteries available, but for Samsung J7 batteries I could not find bigger ones. Are any bigger batteries available for the Pinephone?

Somewhere recently, I think it was Luke, who mentioned they were considering a larger battery, requiring a new back cover.

Most likely he will cover that when he posts his "June Update"

Otherwise, there are some older posts discussing higher rated batteries that are the same physical size.

Luke mentions "A large (5000mAh) battery case for the PinePhone is being explored" in the last update; found here: https://www.pine64.org/2020/05/15/may-up...ging-more/

Also, read through the comments, as he discusses that a bit further.

Thank you both for your answers. I found in the forum a thread about 3300 mAh batteries instead of 3000 mAh, but is it worth it?

Thank your for the link with the discussion, which I already joined.

I m investigating a setup for sensor data aquisition with a Pinephone which runs 24 h 7 d, and a bigger battery option would be highly desirable.

As long as there is a problem to get a large battery, say more than 5000 mAH:

a DIY option would be to take apart a Samsung J7 battery and add an usb connector for an external power bank.
