Sailfish

So, based on Luke's December update, especially the update to the update that said ...

"[edit] Since the publication there have been further developments on the SailfishOS port. SailfishOS and ofono now work much better form suspend, and could be used as a reliable phone. Both call and sms are handled from deep sleep with work  done over the last week. Check out Adam’s post on Twitter."

... I was very anxious to try Sailfish, so I followed all the links and found that the Sailfish website said that it was listed on the Pine wiki as "Nemo", so I got it, tried it, and it looks like Sailfish.  However, it does not wake from deep sleep on calls or texts, and none of the sensors work.

At this point I'm assuming I got the wrong thing ... can somebody point me to the right thing please?

Does this thread help in any way?

Nemo mobile was a project to replace the closed source UI of SailfishOS with opensource Glacier UI.
Recently the Nemo mobile for PinePhone was rebased to Manjaro instead of Mer.

If you want to get "original" SailfishOS, then the guide is here: https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_S...ailfish_OS

Still in the same boat though, does not wake on calls or text, and no sensors are working.

Does anyone know what version Luke was referring to in his Dec. update?

It should be version 4.4.0.72; released initially 30. September 2022; codename Vanha Rauma Smile
Don't know about the hardware adaptation versioning for PinePhone or PinePhone Pro.
As I have PinePhone then can't share my experience with it on the channel topic Big Grin

Yep, that's what I've got 4.4.0.72 (Vanha Rauma), the Pro build, which is what Luke was talking about.  There must be some settings that I need to screw around with.

Thanks.

So, things weren't adding up here, Lukes' update was Dec. 15 and then there was a further update the following week, but I wasn't seeing what he was talking about in the latest download.  it seems that their install.sh script pulls the latest version, in this case 4.4.0.72 from Sept. 30, but it's not updating at all through settings or the store, so I wasn't seeing the cool stuff Luke was talking about.

After figuring out how to do a command line update, things are starting to come into focus, but not completely.  Some of the sensors are working, the ones I can test, I see no keyboard support at all, and I can't really tell if it's waking from deep sleep on calls because after the update there is no sound or vibration on calls, at all.  If I let it go to deep sleep and call it, nothing happens, but if I press the power button during the time that I know it should be ringing, the screen indicates that there's an incoming call, so I think it's waking from sleep, sort of, but not telling me.

At this point, I believe I need to be part of the early access program to get the latest updates ... I'm working on that now.

Don't be too optimistic Smile Early access program is probably for SailfishOS itself updates and maybe updates to officially supported hardware. PinePhone(Pro) hardware adaptation is made by community. So probably the best resource is here: https://github.com/sailfish-on-dontbeevi...ation/wiki

https://github.com/sailfish-on-dontbeevil/flash-it

1 I’ve updated to the latest flash-it.sh script via the link above
2 Connect the PinePhonePro via USB to my Linux Build PC
3 “Volume Up” booted the phone to readable media mode
4 Run flash-it.sh
5 Selected Option “5” for PhinePhonePro flash
6 Selected Device node (dev/sdx): /dev/sdb ← in my case
7 Are you Installing to an SD Card? : n
8 Clear Root Password?: y
9 Flashing /dev/sdb OK!
10 Rebooted PinePhonePro and ran initial Sailfish Setups and booted into Sailfish 4.5.0.19 on the eMMC

Thanks again to Defactofactotum and Acruxfor all the help
