Android and Arch Linux both boot and run with the same hardware, including ethernet.
Sometimes Remix OS can get into endless loop on 2GB board, this has reported to Remix folks and they are working on resolve this issue.
This is great news, thanks for the info ! Looking forward to trying out Remix OS on my 2gb board.
Looking forward to their update
Remix boots ok for me on 2GB board. The first time I ran it it stopped at the blinking RemixOS screen, then 2nd boot it did some upgrading with a progress indicator, and finally it booted into the OS. 3rd boot started normally. However, the wired ethernet isn't working. I don't have a wifi board. I'm using the image named pine64_B2016022702_1000MB_LAN.

Thanks for contributing. So, after the upgrade on the second boot the ethernet stopped working ? Am I understanding you correctly ?
Cheers !
The Ethernet hasn't been working at all, not just since the latest update. There should be another update coming out soon with the Ethernet fix.

Ah ok, good to know. Just as a side-note; longsleep released a new Ubuntu img for the 2gb board which no-longer causes a kernel panic with ethernet connected. Think that two problems (on Linux and Remix OS) may be connected ?
As they are both with the 2gb board, and both have the same symptoms, i would assume they are related to each other. Hopefully RemixOS devs can fix the issue.
From what i understand, developers were only given 1GB boards, (like me and my team), so the 2gb board was never tested with either images. The problem was only recently discovered with backers getting their 2gb boards and having issues.

I disconnected the Ethernet and it works fine - but as soon as I connect Ethernet, it restarts and goes into loop until I disconnect Ethernet again! I switched to 2Amps and still the same. I don't have a 2.4 with me - not sure if its Amps or some issue with Ethernet turning ON. It doesn't restart after I plug in Mouse or keyboard.
Same here. Soon as I disconnected ethernet, it booted

C'mon: It's the same bug and longsleep already discovered the problem and put the fix online. So it's just a matter of time until the other OS images take his bugfix. And everything is already outlined in detail. But since the Pine64 folks do not collect all the information in one place and also spread wrong informations by themselves it's absolutely useless to further contribute to this forum.
And to repeat it once again: The bug is present in every OS release except of updated ones that make use of longsleep's kernel that has fixed the bug yesterday. But on the old Android image as well as the Arch image provided by the Pine64 people the bug can't be triggered since DRAM is limited to 1GB max anyway.

And this is another unrelated Ethernet bug. Number 6 on this list. Bye to all
I'm going to try using the Remix OS with an off brand USB to 10/100 lan adapter Ive got laying around. I've verified it functions in every version of Linux, windows and OSX ive tried.

on the 2GB pine the remix ethernet worked fine with a 10/100 usb 2.0 adapter from microcenter.
