I would also suggest -
Try to connect it - wifi/data/bluetooth - which ever you use
Try setting this device up to get to as close to usable that you need - ie visit websites/access emails/calendar
Then
Find an SD card to try some other distros on
Learn how to reset/reinstall/add programmes/remove programmes etc
Test the sound/download some radio apps etc
Start enjoying it and report problems and successes
