0.7.10 pre-release images are now available for download.

RE: 0.7.10 pre-release - dukla2000 - 10-08-2018

Hope it is just me: downloaded bionic minimal, dd to my old eMMC, boots OK to a login prompt but rock64/rock64 not valid!

Interesting - I have no means of checking right now, but hopefully we get more feedback..

RE: 0.7.10 pre-release - MobileJAD - 10-08-2018

I am interested in this, I can try it tomorrow morning.

RE: 0.7.10 pre-release - dukla2000 - 10-08-2018

It is me - sorry. Have logged in to bionic minimal & stretch minimal fine now.

Not sure what my setup gets wrong but no matter. (t is something weird if I leave my SDcard in - if I remove it all is fine with 0.7.10 on the eMMC.)

But for sure there are problems with sound as per other threads: install mpv libdrm-rockchip1 and libmali-rk-midgard-t86x-r14p0-gbm, setup .asoundrc for card 1 to play through hdmi. rkmpv yourmovie.mp4 plays fine first time. goes ultra slow thereafter with noise in the log file. As per this post.

Does the sdcard have a bootable image on it? If so it could be a race condition between which root is mounted.

Yup - the SDcard is my usual boot but it calls for rootfs on the NVMe. (And the eMMC is normally unplugged else I cant boot 4.18 or 4.19.)

At the moment really perplexed: my understanding of the RockPro64 says the eMMC takes preference in all cases, all ways, if it is present. Now I do know that I have hacked my eMMC mercilessly trying to sort out what is wrong booting 4.18 or 4.19, including some low-level hacks on the (eMMC) boot sections.

But the giveaway symptom is this: on my normal setup my machine name is rpro64 (not the default rockpro64). If I dd 0.7.10 to the eMMC and reboot with the SDcard in, the login prompt is for rockpro64 but rock64/rock64 does not work. (Nor does my normal userid/password which are both changed from the default.) But the real giveaway was when I tried stretch - the line above the login prompt was for ubuntu 18.04. Which lead me to remove the SDcard and all was as expected.

Puzzling but as I say (I think) irrelevant as a comment on 0.7.10!

I've already done that experience too. And before 0.7.10

Good to hear - it is not just me! And it is not 0.7.10.

I can confirm 0.7.10 fixes the mainline eMMC issue: starting from my plain 0.7.10 installation, installing 4.19.0-rc4-1071 reboots fine into 4.19 Smile

Sadly at 4.19 no soundcards at all - as above sound problems at 4.4.154-1122 (stock 0.7.10) as well.

RE: 0.7.10 pre-release - hunderteins - 10-10-2018

Hello,
on 4.4.154-1122 I got no hdmi-sound, mpv with mpp is no longer working. Also the cpu-fan is barely moving when I fiddle with  pwm-fan/hwmon/hwmon0/pwm1
All of that was no problem with 4.4.138-1094  Can someone confirm this or is it just me?
TIA,
hunderteins
