After update - won't power up with HDMI connected - UnixOutlaw - 09-09-2016 OK - now my Pine64+ (2 GB) won't stay "on" when I've got it connected to my lapdock. Longsleep latest Debian XFCE build... It was working before I did : https://www.pine64.pro/getting-started-linux/ : Code: sudo -i (didn't need to resize - I already did that from GParted on my Linux workstation) When I power it up, either from the power button, or plugging into mains (i.e. USB otg) - it stays up... Once it's up - and - staying up - if I plug it into my Lapdock - I get nothing output... If I try to power it up connected to the Lapdock - either drawing power from the Lapdock or direct from mains (i.e. USB otg) the PWR LED will come on for about 5-10 seconds then it shuts off again. If I can get it "rescued" from this state (e.g. SSH over ethernet [I don't know what IP address it's getting over work's WiFi]) I'm going to rename the host to pezzo-di-merda... RE: After update - won't power up with HDMI connected - dkryder - 09-09-2016 it's obvious there is some kind of conflict between the lapdock and pine64 but imo it is jumping to conclusions to say that the conflict is due to some fault of the pine64. most lapdocks are proprietary in nature in that they are designed for specific phones or series of phones. to offer any suggestions i would have to know more about the lapdock, how it is connected and info on what it was built to do with as many details/specifics as possible since the term lapdock can reference so many things. even if you are just plugging into an hdmi port, some ports are designed to offer services beyond just a standard hdmi signal or designed to be expecting signals the pine64 is not offering. It worked almost perfectly (wrong resolution, 1280x720 - but it was usable) before the update - and it still works perfectly with my Banana PI and my NTC CHIP SBCs (both of which sync to the correct resolution of 1366x768). Also - the power shutoff when I try to power it up connected to the lapdock is worrying. Basically - it's a Motorola Atrix Lapdock (the "most" compatible model) - connected via HDMI and USB.... USB for the keyboard, HDMI for the display... Anyway - I don't have my serial/UART dongle with me here at work - and I don't know if it's getting as far as WiFi - so I cannot connect to it to see what's going on - will have a look when I get home from work tonight - both UART and ethernet (I know what IP address it gets on my home LAN). RE: After update - won't power up with HDMI connected - dkryder - 09-09-2016 have you tried using the boot configuration file to set a specific resolution, perhaps the lowest standard which is known to be fairly problem free , either 720p, 720p60 or whatever a known resolution to work well? I've tried every combo known to mankind! Only two ever display 720p, if I tried to set it to "768p " or "768p60" the "paskaläjä" goes to 1080p... that is when it boots - which is like about 25% of the time (and was 0% of the time earlier today!) I'm happy with 720p - it's not just a matter of it not displaying - it just doesn't boot - never appears on the network... I hooked up a UART and I get a whole heap of errors about uboot... I cracked open the C4 case, disconnected the battery (and move the BAT jumper) - and now it boots "some of the time"... I've got two of them (Pine 64+ 2 GB) - the other one which was running Armbian boots fine... which would kinda suggest the hardware on this board is a bit dodgy - and I'm not surpised at all - given that BOTH boards arrived with an ugly bow or bend in the middle (this has been reported by many recipients of Pine64). Anyway - I have renamed it to "pezzo-di-merda" - because that is what it is... I'd really like my money back - I'd pay another $50 for just ONE 2G multi-core ARM board (but most definitely NOT from the people who brought us Pine!) - and I don't really give a rat's about 32 bit or 64 bit... Here's some of the stuff that gets echoed through the UART : Code: root@tengri:/dev# cu -l /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 115200 and it goes on and on and echoes such similar garbage ad nauseum infinitum... This has really been quite a disheartening experience with these boards - especially after the rock solid support and stability of the Banana PI and the NTC CHIP... FFS - I'd be happy with something like the BPi with another couple of cores and a further GB of RAM... Oh well.... Kickstarter's always a risk - took a punt and lost on really REALLY shoddy hardware and support... Sayonara! I might head on over to Armbian... Catcha yas on the flipside! If it doesn't work, try to replace power supply, maybe it is out. If this also fails or you do not want it any more, send it free to me |
