Wifi dongle issues - Deckard - 01-09-2025 Hello, All I tried connecting my wifi dongle to a USBC adapter before plugging into the pinetab2. No results. The dongle came with drivers but I have no way to use a cdrom disk. Should I get a plug n play dongle? Is it a problem w the USBC adapter? Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Deckard RE: Wifi dongle issues - tophneal - 01-13-2025 what dongle is it and what os are you running on your pt2? you do probably just need to install the drivers, but you may be able to use another computer to download them to a thumb drive and then move them to the pt2. you likely won't need to find a disk drive for the included cd. if you look up the dongle's specs you should be able to find the chipset and then use the chipset to search for your os' drivers. then you can download them, transfer them with the usb drive, and install/reboot to use the dongle. you should update your os once you get the driver's installed, as there are now drivers for the built-in wifi. RE: Wifi dongle issues - Kevin Kofler - 01-13-2025 I strongly doubt the CD-ROM contains working drivers for Linux aarch64 anyway. Probably not even Linux x86_64, only Windows and maybe macOS. Also note that the builtin WiFi on the PineTab2 should work with current kernels and you should not need an external dongle at all (unless you want to use some specific feature like "monitor mode" that needs specific chipsets). |
