Another one boots to black screen - Sb2024 - 10-27-2024 I got my pine book pro back in march, put towboot on the spi and ran armbian from the emmc. Happy! After a period of disuse including full battery discharge, it started booting to a black screen. Sad! I put a new image of armbian on an SD card and it does the same thing. I opened the case and turned off the emmc switch and tried a fresh SD card. No change. I tried the long press hard reset. Same. Tow boot is still working. When it boots to the black screen, the power light is green and the caps lock and num lock lights work. I’m not sure what to do next. RE: Another one boots to black screen - KC9UDX - 10-28-2024 Well, you could zero the SPI ROM, have the eMMC disabled, and boot to the SD card, assuming the SD card actually boots. RE: Another one boots to black screen - Sb2024 - 10-28-2024 Towboot on the spi is the only thing that is working correctly. It does not boot to the SD card. RE: Another one boots to black screen - Sb2024 - 10-28-2024 I think I’m going to replace the main board and emmc. Maybe a power surge from fully discharging the battery fried something. I could not find another case like mine where the boatload works and nothing else does. RE: Another one boots to black screen - AltonFox - 10-28-2024 It looks like your Pinebook Pro is having trouble booting, even though Tow-Boot still works. Try these steps: check the display on an external display via USB-C or HDMI to see if there is a signal; use an older version of Armbian or another operating system such as Manjaro; reset SPI flash by reinstalling Tow-Boot; Collect boot logs via UART port to view detailed errors; and try removing the battery, holding down the power button to discharge before reinserting. If the above steps fail, collecting the boot log can help determine the exact cause. best regard, RE: Another one boots to black screen - wdt - 10-29-2024 With a black screen I'm not sure how you could manage to zero SPI Armbian AFAIK starts a ssh session, so if you can find the IP address..... OR if that doesn't work (no wifi connect) plug a usb-ethernet dongle and ethernet in |
