any chance to use both USB ports in host-mode? - lllll - 09-16-2023

Hi,

I have the following problem:
  • I want to use my bluetooth keyboard
  • I want to use WiFi
  • I bought a 2-in-1 Bluetooth-WiFi-USB-Adapter. WiFi works, but bluetooth does not with my keyboard
  • I have a Bluetooth-USB-Adapter which works with my keyboard
  • Only the upper USB port is working in host-mode (from my understanding), so I can only use one adapter at the same time

Is it somehow possible to use both?

Perhaps a USB hub will get you where you want to go?

Are you sure the keyboard is bluetooth? Some keyboards are. But a lot of keyboards come with a dongle that is not necessarily implementing bluetooth.

Yes, I'm sure the keyboard is bluetooth. It is using these controllers: https://nicekeyboards.com/docs/nice-nano/

And it is running this firmware: https://zmk.dev/

It is a split-keyboard and has 34 keys (in total), I think it is a great form factor for the pinetab. Here is a photo of it: https://github.com/davidphilipbarr/Sweep

It works fine with my other Bluetooth-USB-adapters.

For now, I decided to use only Bluetooth, and when I need network I can use USB network connection sharing with my PC via the lower USB port. But, yes, maybe I should buy a USB hub.

The most combo Bluetooth + Wifi Adapter are a mess to install under Linux. I tried 3 different. They work all only for Windows.
If you will find one, which will work - let us know!

this is likely your best bet, as currently it's unlikely any peripheral in the lower usb-c port will be recognized by the OS. it's pretty much a charging only port right now.

The dock that shipped with the “Convergence package” of the original PinePhone works fine with the PT2 for WiFi & BT, with power connected; It has no problem with my JBL Clip & personal hot-spot (PP).

Make sure you have the right packages/modules loaded and everything connected before powering up your device.
