Phosh?

After 0.20 (the one with swipe gestures) Phosh or Phoc crashes quite a lot. (I am not sure which - but the point is UI crashes and it is hard to notice because it will bounce back up quite fast)

It is all ready fixed in newer versions but if you are using Phosh 0.20 it was really difficult to use it as a phone Big Grin. For example the issue is gone with Manjaro which uses newer version by default.
With Arc, Mobian and PMOS stable UI crashes many times a day (I made tests earlier this month so things might be different today).

And when the Phosh/Phoch crashes there is odd loop where "old" Pulseaudio is still alive but Phosh/Phoc reboot from crash starts "new" Pulseaudio and it ends up to situation that you don't have working sound at all. I think this happens more often if call/sms/mms wakes phone up from suspend.

I see thanks for your detailed answers. I will wait patiently for the next updates then, I saw on github that phosh 0.21.1 is being released to arch.

I've been using phosh 0.21.0-3 and phoc 0.21.1-1 since danctnix released them on 15th September. Never had a crash (that I'm aware of). I never had a crash with v 0.20 either. 0.21 is much smoother for me in use. Since that time (and a megi kernel update) battery life if much better.

I do get occasional problems with audio calls though and that is because audio output gets set to "dummy". I have no explanation for this. We all signed up for these "quirks", right? Wink

I find a more or less daily reboot keeps things working more smoothly.

That's exactly the problem I am having.

Just noticed these updates in [danctnix-testing]...
Code:
modemmanager-1.18.12-1
phosh-0.21.1-1
telegram-desktop-4.2.4-1

I haven't used the testing repo before but telegram-desktop had started segfaulting the last few days, so I've updated using testing. All working great so far. A modemmanager update can't hurt either.

Quickest way to fix the "dummy" output problem is to just reboot.

Yes, forgot to mention that. My phone has a newer kernel than my desktop now! I normally hang back on desktop kernel updates until .3

I saw that you have biktorgj modem's firmware, me too, but how to check the ADSP version?

Are you using the suggestions modifications on alsa as written here from 160 to 90%? https://github.com/the-modem-distro/pinephone_modem_sdk/blob/kirkstone/docs/SETTINGS.md

With biktorgj's firmware you can just text "version" to the modem. I love that. Send "help" for all commands. Seriously good! I've added the modem to my contacts and text that contact. Modem number is +223344556677.

I've applied all the "Recommended settings" for my PP.
