Manjaro/Cinnamon customised on sdcard: how to transfer to emmc? - quixote - 10-16-2021

I had the impression one could play with OSes on the sdcard -- running no danger of bricking the dear Pinebook Pro -- and then once all was as wanted, I could move it to the emmc. That's also implied on this excellent thread: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=11666

However, I only see a link to transferring a stock install to emmc? What am I missing? I'd like to install *my* customized OS to emmc. (Sadly, I did not manage to maintain my changelog text file as intelligently suggested here. I think you have to be a professional developer to have that much discipline.)

If -- big if -- I could boot from something other than emmc or sdcard (eg USB? but that's not in the boot order, is it?), then presumably I could rsync the / dir to emmc (dev/mmcblk1 I think? I'd check before doing it!)

So, question #1: how to boot so I can do an rsync?

Question #2: best options when running rsync for everything to transfer well?

Or, Question #3, if there's a different and better way, what is it?

Thanks for your help! At wit's end here (please don't tell me I didn't have to go far Big Grin )
