Pinephone UBPorts not connecting to computer - badisautumnum - 06-08-2020

When plugged into my laptop my computer doesn't show that there is a device connected. My Pinephone is working fine, and charging when plugged into the laptop but not able to connect to transfer files or anything.

Hoping this is right place to post this

Same here for UBPorts, serial (headphone plug) works OK though.

I had to actually use a red USB port (sleep and charge). Looks like USB2.0 didn't work for me. Might need a higher voltage than USB2 or USB3. Just FYI.

Is your usb cable a data cable or a 'charge only cable' ?

I am using the cable that came with the PinePhone UBPorts Edition, just checked and the cable works on my regular phone so it is a data cable

I only have USB2 and USB3 on my laptop, not entirely sure what a red USB port is though

That's not supported right now. I suppose you could try booting into jumpdrive (the recovery mode) by holding the power and volume up key, and then plug it into your computer.

Another option is to SSH into the device. Though you need to enable SSH in ubuntu touch first. (it's disabled for security)

I would doubt that laptops would have the "Sleep and charge" ports. I happen to have a newer rig, and was curious why the USB plugs had different colors. Those usb ports are supposed to be live even if the power is off on the Mainboard. It is good to note, that I only got it to connect when in the recovery mode. Nothing when the phone was powered on.

They are all black, one is defintely USB3 though I just rechecked. It sounds like it just isn't set up yet based on what Aberts was saying?

I can get my regular cell phone (LG G6) to transfer data but I can't seem to get my tablet to either. If other people aren't having the same problem it is probably just my laptop I guess. Thank you everyone
