Now that the Camera app works on Mobian, it works better overall than Megapixels. Neither has flash for the rear camera, but Megapixels on Mobian fails to adjust exposure. And the Camera app will make a video file.

Hello I've noticed Barugon mentioning Mobian Phosh installer deosn't work on eMMC. Does anyone know if latest version now works flashing to eMMC?

With towboot working, I just copied a development image of Mobian to the eMMC, and used the disk tool to extend the partition size. Then the dist-upgrade is done, and the personal account is set up.

Mobian has an update as of this afternoon, February 27, that fixes the audio and video playback issue. Restarts are not necessary for AV playback.

I made this code as a start on the calibration of the cameras for the camera/pinhole application. The view through the camera application now has better blacks.

I wrote the files imx258.yaml and ov8588.yaml with this content to the directory, /usr/share/libcamera/ipa/rkisp1/.

Code:

%YAML 1.1

Mobian now has an update of pipewire that restores the need to reboot for AV playback.

There is now a held back version of the Mobian pinephonepro-support package that is necessary for a working network connection. So users can not update Mobian until that package is not held back. This is as of Thursday afternoon, March 9.

Is this why WiFi stopped working with the last update?

Thanks for that.

Actually, a distribution should automate this kind of transition, before wifi is lost. Everyday an updated installation is not functional, a fraction of users would be lost.

Now I am looking at an installation by USB copy and partition extension of an old image of Mobian. If Manjaro had a working camera and voice recorder at the moment, then I would not bother. I have a chip with a slightly outdated installation of Manjaro, so I am not losing the Manjaro installation.

Agreed, but this caused by an unfortunately set of circumstances:
- Mobian is actually Debian + Mobian, so actually 2 distros combined into 1
- Debian made a change in non-free-firmware which collided with a 'patch' that Mobian had, while unaware that Mobian had that
- So Mobian dropped their patch and switched to the Debian package, but the change wrt the non-free-firmware archive area hadn't been communicated yet

A new archive area (non-free-firmware) is something that rarely happens, so chances of that happening again are really slim.
There's now better collaboration/coordination between Debian and Mobian to (hopefully) prevent such things from happening again.

When a transition needs to happen within Debian, that is automatically handled. But such things don't work (automatically) across distros.
