@bcnaz I did watch the clip explaining how to swap the mainboard. I did check and re-check the mic's DIP switch, the headphone jack and I have re-sited both ends of the flat cable between the mainboard and the sideboard.

you may have been trapped in an avalanche of dead parts like when fixing computers and your test parts are problematic too

Having two DOA microphones is quite unlikely. After all, they're just microphones, not integrated circuits, or other very sensitive components.
I'll let everyone know the outcome after replacing the mainboard - it's just been dispatched from Hong Kong.

The microphone locates at side board and just a signal to mainboard.
You can use the Beta Edition factory test OS to check on the microphone functionality and here is the download link: https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_Software_Releases#Factory-loaded_OS_builds
