Hello world :-)

I have just pre-ordered StarFive VisionFive2 board [1] with StarFive JH7110 with RISC-V U74 CPU.

Someone pointed me to a similar but more robust STAR64 project from the PINE64.. but I can only find a WIKI page [1].. no Forum section.. no Store section.

I would like to ask about the PINE64 STAR64 project status:
* When it will be available to order?
* What would be the price?
* Do you plan FreeBSD support?

Thanks :-)

I just got the response from the PINE64 Info Team that STAR64 board release is planned around mid 2022Q4 :-)
I asked this question on this month's blog https://www.pine64.org/2023/04/01/march-...t-bonanza/, but it was not approved. Perhaps the standards in this forum are a bit lower and I can ask my question here.

Star64. What do we need as of today?

- Does it boot from micro sd (and eMMC is optional?)
- Does it boot from eMMC (and micro sd card is optional?)
- does hdmi work on boot or do we need a serial console cable for the boot messages?
- If we need a serial console, will Pine's woodpecker work?
And further questions:

- Do we need a heat-sink? Which one from the Pine Store?
- Does any of the Pine64 enclosures fit the Star64?

I'm pretty sure nobody has made an OS image for it as of yet, nor is there a device tree in either mainline or a downstream kernel, so the answer to all of these would be "no".

From the February update https://www.pine64.org/2023/03/01/februa...ing-shape/

We were thrilled to be able to demo the Star64 running desktop Linux at FOSDEM. Ayufan. one of our longest-standing contributors whom many of you will recognize from his work on the Pine A64(+), the Rock64, Pinebook Pro and RockPro64 (just to mention a notable few) managed to put together a demo build of Debian with XFCE for our stall.

I hope Ayufan will share his os image. Is that not planned?
Who knows, nothing has been communicated publicly.
I thought the launch was yesterday, product page is up, but still shows 'out of stock'... or did they push this back to April Vth? or just not selling to Europe? or is it actually sold out Smile
The last news say will be available for April 4, but it is still all out of stock. Any newer update?
and , mind that it was available but sold out within half an hour due to a large rush demand. Pine Store usually produces in batches so there will be more chances to buy one, I would assume. Though future batches will probably also sell out very quickly. Would recommend you both (and any reader) to join the community chat and to follow it there.
