Hi everybody,

I bought the pine64 2GB version, than I burn the 'Debian Linux Jessie with Mate GUI Image' on the SD card according to the wiki page.
After powering the board, there is nothing on PC monitor, no action, no output. The system boots fine, serial console by EXP connector works, SSH by 'Putty' works.

Please can you advice me what's wrong? My monitor doesn't have HDMI but have DVI. To connect it I use HDMI-DVI adaptor like this: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/offic...-cohddviad
I used to use this adaptor with same PC monitor and with Raspberry PI and it was working.

When I use it with pine64 and plug and unplug the monitor cable I get message (on serial console) like this:
[ 55.600051] hdmi_clk_disable_prepare()L176
[ 62.557231] hdmi_clk_enable_prepare()L161
TL Lim tipped me off to this great little adapter, for those of you who would like to adapt an older vga monitor to your PineA64 board.

This adapter requires no external power (is active) and provides not only the video conversion, but also the audio ! ~a very nice addition to my PineA64 collection of peripheral nit bits.
The keyboard is a logitech K360 paired with the track marble from logitech (M570) on a single receiver. The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster SA300 (I'm using the VGA input) which also has a DVI input (but no direct hdmi input).
The hdmi-->vga adapter in the Amazon pic is obviously white (mine is green in the pic above, I don't know the difference otherwise). Auto adjust worked mostly , and i then tweaked the horizontal and vertical position slightly.
I've tried various cables with same result. I tried the DVI connector with same HDMI cable on another system (lattepanda windows board) and it worked fine (no tint).

Hey guys,
spending a good whole day on my Pine board (1G) finally got it working, and just realised this board doesn't like HDMI-DVI connection, obviously other users had the same issue, however, they were so many other parameters to be considered, that's why it took so long to get to this point...anyways, I personally prefer to use this board with my monitor instead of a 40-something inches TV, and my monitor doesn't have any HDMI port, I really wanna see some sort of fix or something, I'll be appreciate if someone could keep me posted on this,
Cheers

Hey guys,
spending a good whole day on my Pine board (1G) finally got it working, and just realised this board doesn't like HDMI-DVI connection, obviously other users had the same issue, however, they were so many other parameters to be considered, that's why it took so long to get to this point...anyways, I personally prefer to use this board with my monitor instead of a 40-something inches TV, and my monitor doesn't have any HDMI port, I really wanna see some sort of fix or something, I'll be appreciate if someone could keep me posted on this,
Cheers

I'm using the latest 16.04 image (xubuntu-xenial-20160501-longsleep-pine64), and seeing some annoying noise in dark areas of the screen. Mostly (near-)black ones, but some dark blue ones.

The noise is small numbers of individual pixels flickering between the expected color and a light one (maybe the 1's or 2's complement?? It looks a little yellowish when it's on blue). I don't see it on a normal desktop display, except in the terminal emulator window while the "logout" popup is displayed.

It's not always present in blue areas of the screensavers, but does show up sometimes.

It's always there during video playbacks, with videos recorded using the XviD, DivX 5, and MPEG codecs (all the types I've tried). It also shows up in MJPEG streams from an Axis camera. So it doesn't seem likely to be a codec bug.

It looks like it's probably either a hardware or a video driver bug. Any suggestions on how to isolate it?

Thanks,

I tried to use Pine64 board with HDMI to DVI converter. It resulted black screen but when I used HDMI monitor instead of DVI one, it worked.
After some googling, I found this. https://linux-sunxi.org/Banana_Pi_M3#HDM...converters
It says disabling HDCP and enabling HDMI CTS compatibility allows use of HDMI to DVI converters. Is there any way to do that on Pine64?
