Hello,

I was working on linux on the Radxa Zero 3W. Unfortunately, I am having some issues getting CPUFreq up. It complains about missing OPP tables.
While I dont ask for help with fixing the Zero 3W, since this will be offtopic, I would just like to know how the CPUFreq system works on Quartz64.

Does CPU Frequency scaling work on the Quartz64(especially with mainline 6.12.35)?
Does it use the mainline cpufreq-dt driver or does it require some rockchip patches?
Are the OPP tables supplied by the DTB or is there something like rockchip-opp to supply them?

Thank you.

I've been trying with some small success to make use of an SOQuartz with both the Pine64 Model A baseboard and a Waveshare CM4-to-Pi3 baseboard, although things are extremely messy and I have no idea where to look to be able to figure out how to fix things.

It seems a lot of the distros available on the software releases page supposedly use the CM4 baseboard, and while it works and I can get video on HDMI, even a graphical console using the latest Manjaro image from June 2023, the USB ports do not work. I have no idea how to get them to work and searches have not turned up any useful information.

I also attempted to use DietPi, Manjaro, and Plebian on the Model A baseboard, and have noticed a lot of oddities. The Pine64 wiki page on software releases for the SOQuartz instructs one to change extlinux.conf to use the model-a.dtb but doing this results in failure to boot. I don't yet have the time to hook up one of my FT232s to this thing to dig deeper. I forgot to change the DTB file once however that resulted in the Model A booting properly. However, I don't think I like Manjaro very much and would much prefer a Debian-based one, and in any case, getting system upgrades fails badly. Plebian boots, however it has no support whatsoever for the built-in WiFi or any of the WiFi dongles I have, making it a non-starter since I then have to plug the thing into a network port somewhere and do a headless install and that's too tedious to do with the way I have things set up now, and then I have no idea how to get any of the wireless modules working. DietPi works and I'd been able to get it to run, however I noticed that it runs very hot, temperature peaking at 71°C, which is very bad. I have some CM4 heatsinks on the way but I also noticed that the linked DietPi image uses the cm4 DTB, and I suspect this might partially be to blame for the thermal issues.

So I have several questions:

1. What do I need to do to get the USB ports on the Waveshare CM4-Pi3 board to work? Has anyone else experienced this issue? It is possible that I have a bad board given that I got mine suspiciously cheap (~US$5), but before I try to buy another one I want to know if this might be a known issue.

2. What do I need to do in order to get the built-in wireless networking on the SOQuartz to work? I take it we need some kind of firmware files which none of the linked distros include for whatever reason.

3. What's with these DTB files? Is it really safe to use the CM4 DTB even if you're using a Model A baseboard?

Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give.

For reference the Waveshare board I have is this one

I have the Quartz64-B v1.3
dmesg is reporting a raft of re-occuring errors with the built-in ethernet / NIC.
-These are all happening with: latest plebian, diet-pi, arch arm
as a result I cannot bring the NIC online. (tried ip link set end0 down/up and raises these dmesg output)

(fyi: if its useful, I can use an usb eth dongle and kernel recognizes it and I connect via that okay - usless it is usb3.0 port and another set of warning are raised ...for another port maybe)

I have tried using the PoE adapter I have for it and "normal" eth with DC power, and the same issue.
Any help much appreciated.

Hello,
Any general help or understanding what is going on here, much appreciated....

I have the Quartz64-b handy.

( [not really relevant]... I tried installing Manjaro's img and it worked 100pc okay.
Then tried https://github.com/jaredmcneill/quartz64_uefi and finally got it's boot menu showing. - okay)

I then installed ArchLinux Arm and THAT worked - but the onboard ethernet was down (I suspect it's kernel build re a setting should fix it)
-did a full pacman -Syu (and installed a few pkgs)

-I THEN tried plebian and dietPi OS (on a DIFFERENT sdcard)
and they BOTH cannot boot now (also the Manjaro), complaining the root filesystem is missing.

Has ArchLinux ARM loaded the onboard eMMC (or NRAM etc) with its own /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf settings?
As -its- root label is 'rootfs' while the others are 'root'

please note: 2 different sdcards, and a clean install of Manjaro / Plebian /DietPi.

Yes, I can provide boot logs, but if anyone knows how to re-flash/re format the onboard eMMC much appreciated.
I cannot see it in /dev, and its not mounted any where

Thank you.

I've been having problems getting the on-board SATA port on the Quartz64 Model A working, and I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any help.

I've been having problems getting the on-board SATA port on the Quartz64 Model A working, and I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am trying to install a distribution on my Quartz64 Model-A 8GB, but can't seem to make any work properly. I've been used to armbian for quite a long time, so I wanted to use a headless armbian image. After trying images that I built myself, and images build by balbes150, everything always works correctly but the system does only see 2GB of RAM (using free). However, whenever I install Manjaro instead, free actually shows me the 8GB of RAM (which suggests that it is not a hardware issue). I also tried to install DietPi, but the system would always start in read only mode...

Has anyone run into this issue ?

Why use Plebian? Simply put, it doesn't try to be overly quirky. We use Debian's kernel package. If I get hit by a blimp tomorrow and die, you'll still get kernel updates through Debian's regular channels.

Most importantly, these aren't bespoke artisanally hand-crafted images, but the output of an automated pipeline. You, yes you, can fork the repository and make your own with your adjustments to the debos recipes.

Consider these images to be in a "Beta" phase for now, they're generally ready for you to use but at some point you might need to do manual intervention if we end up deciding we want a third party repository after all. If and when it comes to that, I'll let you know.
