Hello,

I have a PineTime purchased in March 2023. When I first used it, the touchscreen was working perfectly.

I then left the watch unused for approximately 2 years. When I powered it back on, the touchscreen was no longer responding correctly, it feels like it is miscalibrated: inputs are not registered where I tap, or swipes are not recognized reliably.

I just updated the firmware to 1.16.0 (from 1.11.0), but the issue persists.

My assumption is that this may be a hardware degradation issue (deep discharge during storage) rather than a firmware problem, but I wanted to check here before concluding.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue after long-term storage? Is there any known fix or workaround short of hardware intervention?

Thanks and cheers !

I’ve mostly used x86 machines before, so I’m still learning the best practices for ARM-based SBCs. I’d appreciate advice from more experienced users here.

[*]Which Ubuntu Server version do you recommend for Rock64? I saw that there are several flavors (22.04, 24.04, etc.). Which one offers the best stability and performance?
[*]About Storage setup, I plan to run the system from an NVMe SSD via an M.2 adapter. Does anyone have experience with the setup speed, boot reliability, and any specific quirks to watch out for?

I now have my PineTime updated to the 1.15.0 firmware and resources by use of Gadgetbridge and ITD respectively. It took me a while to get the resources updated as there was a patch needed to ITD and then I had to realize that the PineTime could only be paired with one of them at a time. I also had a problem getting it to talk to Gadgetbridge again, requiring me to remove the initial device and add it again.

Gadgetbridge tells me that my PineTime is in control of the data syncing. It seems to take a while before I see an update from the PineTime showing in Gadgetbridge. I assume there is a setting somewhere to change how frequently data updates are sent to Gadgetbridge. Where is that setting located?

I am currently using an antique Fitbit Flex 2 taped together and have ordered the Pinetime dev kit to replace it as my health/fitness monitor.

I currently keep an eye on my Fitbit using the https://dashboard.exercise.quest/ website on my laptop. I used to sync my Fitbit using their USB dongle until they dropped support. This forced me to get a junk phone to use with their Android app to sync it.

The final straw leading to my migration was Google insisting I had to migrate my Fitbit into their account. That along with the decrepit state of my device led to my decision to migrate.

I intend to take them up on their offer to download my Fitbit historic data once I have the Pinetime configured to take over its function. I would hope to be able to integrate this into new data from the Pinetime at some point.

The wiki indicates there are multiple ways to manage and work with my new Pinetime. I have a laptop running Linux mint 22 and an Android 16 phone. I would prefer to be able to monitor things from my laptop as I currently do and a data display similar to the webpage noted above would be great. As the Pinetime has many more features than the Flex 2 I also see reasons to connect with my phone.

Can the Pinetime display incoming caller-ID information from the phone? Can the Pinetime be used to accept or decline a call? These functions would be great to have as I could then leave my phone in my pocket and deal with a call. If the Pinetime could also be used to originate a call that would also be handy.

The heart monitoring functions of the Pinetime are new to me as the Flex 2 doesn't have that. In addition to heart rate can it detect heart rhythm issues? It would be good to be alerted to these in time to seek medical attention before they become acute. If it can detect a myocardial infarction to initiate an emergency call great.

Does the Pinetime have a fall detection feature? As I am a 72 year old a bad fall can be life threatening and it would be great if an emergency call could be initiated in case of a fall leaving me non-responsive.

As a newcomer to Pinetime I would appreciate any recommendations for which tools are best suited for me. I ordered the dev kit as it offers more possible options, but that might have been an overreach on my part. I have been working with Linux for a number of years, but I am mostly an end user as opposed to a developer.

Thank you in advance for your guidance to a new Pinetime user.

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to share a project I’ve been building called RoutineHero — a customized version of InfiniTime for the PineTime smartwatch, designed specifically to help young children follow daily routines.

Why I built it
My 3-year-old was struggling with basic daily routines like getting dressed, brushing teeth, or going to bed. I wanted to help him build independence without needing constant reminders — but I couldn’t find anything out there designed for that.
So I created RoutineHero: a non-distracting smartwatch that helps young children understand and follow their day.

What is RoutineHero?

Custom OS based on InfiniTime, made for young kids

Routine alerts with kid-friendly icons + gentle vibration feedback

Companion Android app lets parents configure tasks, icons..

Super simple interface — no distractions, games, or messages
All code and setup instructions are available here:
https://github.com/trollderiu/InfiniTime-RoutineHero
Try it out! I’d love feedback, ideas, and collaborators.

Looking for Advice: Licensing, Sales, and Bulk Orders
I’d love to make RoutineHero available to other parents — especially those who don’t know how to flash firmware or build from source.
I’m currently exploring the idea of offering pre-configured PineTime watches with RoutineHero installed. If I go forward, it will be under a new name and with full credit to PineTime and InfiniTime.

I have a few key questions and would really appreciate advice from this community:

Is it okay to sell PineTime-based devices with a custom OS, as long as I don’t present it as an official Pine64 product?

Can I purchase PineTime devices in bulk directly or through official distributors?

What are the best practices to respect the spirit and licensing of InfiniTime, PineTime, and the broader community?

If you’ve been through a similar journey — or are part of the Pine64 team — I’d be very grateful for your insight.
RoutineHero began as a small project to help my own child — now I’d love to share it with others, while giving back and respecting the amazing open-source community that made it possible ❤️
Thanks!

I have my Pinetime unboxed, and charged

I have Gadget Bridge from fdroid. I think it is bridged.

What now?

Is there any comprehensive documentation anywhere?

For example: How do I find out how to set the time?

Hello Everybody,

I have a Pine Time which was (slightly) bricked, in that it had 1.5.0 on it, a mistake when I should have put 1.15.0 on it. So as it was just $26, I bought another one. When it arrived I put it on charge and waited until it had 68% charge. But it would not do anything, so I put it back on charge. I waited until it had 100% charge and then I was able to use it. I put 1.15.0 on it and it works!

So, I wondered, what about the old pine time? I put it on charge and waited until it was at 100%. Then I used Siglo on my Pine Phone and it not only paired, but allowed me to put 1.15.0 on it! So I now have 2 pine times and I thought that this would be usefull to anybody like me who was just stuck!

Hello Everybody,

I have a new pine time and I put, using Siglo on my Pine Phone, 1.15.0. I validated it in the firmware and only then I discovered that I had put 1.5.0 on the Pine Time! The bluetooth disappeared from the settings and I don't know how to get it back. The boot loader is 1.0.0. I've tried the soft boot using 8 seconds on the left hand button, but to no avail. I still can't get bluetooth back.

Can anybody help me, please?
