If anyone else is running into these not booting issues, install mrfixits' u-boot (using an SD-card with any working linux, flip the eMMC/SD switch to SD, press the power button and after 2 seconds flip the switch back to eMMC and you should be booting off the SD-card while still being able to write to the eMMC)

When I got my pbp back in August/Sept I tried the newest version of ayufan's chromeos build and poked around a little before moving on to other distros. I recently had a reason to go back to chromeos and cannot login. I have reflashed the sd card with 3 different version of chromeos and get messages about my account not being verified, but I can still sogn in as a guest and access gmail and such from inside the guest browser.

Doing web searches on this this problem reveals that it isnt exactly uncommon, but that a "powerwash" is the key to resetting a regular chromebook and fixing the issue. The key combos for powerwashing do not work however (prompts restart but never prompts to begin powerwash), and there really shouldnt be a need to powerwash a freshly installed sd card anyway right?

My best guess is that there is some sort of leftovers from the first chromeos sdcard that I poked around with somewhere/somehow on the actual pbp and google isnt allowing sign-in. I am using a different sd card, and have tried the same on also, and as I said befiore I have tried 3 different of ayufan's build. None will let me sign in as anything other than guest. Any thoughts and help are appreciated. Ty

I formatted my SD card, and DD'ed the chromium image on it:
Turned of my pinebook pro, and tried to boot from the sd card. Yet all I got was a black screen. I've then turned off the device by holding the power key, removed the SD card, yet it seems it's not even booting Manjaro anymore.

I really don't get how booting from the SD could break boot in general. Maybe any of you has a clue? What can I best do next?
Thank you so much in advance!

I received my heavily anticipated PBP on Monday. I've had a great time learning about ROCK64 and the differences needed to work on this platform vs x86 and x64
I've followed a few guides and tested out a few of the images (Debian, Bionic Mate, Manjaro). I have Manjaro currently loaded on eMMC. I'd like to continue to test other images via SD cards.

I loaded the Chromium image on a known working card with the PBP and used Etcher to write the image. It appeared to load fine but no internal display. Video output was not there. I had a similar issue when tested the Bionic Mate image and found that if I connected to a monitor via USBC I would get a display there but not on the internal laptop. Same issue with Chromium.

Is there a known issue when switching between images and boot options where the internal display does not function?
Thanks all, Great community here.

Hey there, fellow Piners!

I know it's not the most popular OS option for the PBP, but I love the simplicity and features available in ChromiumOS. I currently run ayufan's R77 build on my eMMC, and it's awesome, but I'd really like to see a working Crostini, and Android apps, if possible. The initial Chromium images were ready and available by the time most started getting their PBPs, and I imagine could probably benefit from some of the improvements from other kernels, since then.

From what I can tell ayufan is pretty busy with expanding the Linux support for the PBP, so I don't want to bother him with any requests. That man has given this community a lot of software already. I know I've used a lot of his builds across several Pine devices. I've tried to take this on myself as well, but I keep finding build documentation that isn't fully up-to-date and stops my progress, Google has been blocking me from setting up the necessary APIs, and plainly: I have no idea what the hell I'm doing.

This brings me to here and now. I'd like to commission a developer to create a more featured Chromium build for the community. As stated above, I know I really want to see a build with working

Crostini

Android apps (from what I've read I think Android apps should work if Linux Beta does) This should get easier as CrOS develops and transitions to using ARCVM.

the built-in cam (Currently works when using setup/settings to take a profile picture, but nowhere else.)

retain suspend functionality (most of the OS options, especially with mainline kernels, seem to have lost this) At this point, I already know we'll have to make sacrifices to maintain S3 sleep. From what I understand it's possible to use up to v5.8 for the kernel with BSP uboot, though.

one of the modified u-boots with SD or NVMe boot priority Now the latest mrfixit2001 BSP uboot already includes the traditional and additional boot priorities. Mainline uboot also includes these, in addition to USB IIRC.

If any other users feel I left something off here, please chime in.

I'm more than happy to contribute monetarily to anyone able to take this on, in addition to any testing, and hope that other users who would enjoy this image will too.
