PureMaps needed some Token like from Mapbox.
But Yes. My PinePhone BH now supports GPs on UT.
Great.

Did it work multiple times in a row (without a reboot)?

Yes . First i tried unav and then OpenMaps .Both worked in a row .

Just followed your instructions. The one thing i did after doing so and bevore testing was to stop ssh again manually.

SSH can't possibly be it ... hmm. Interesting.

So back home  i had a clear look at what i've done yesterday.
unav and openmaps already installed
-opened ssh
-remounted writable
-installed the package
-then (whyever) did a reboot
-started the service (and magic)

then Big Grin

and what, multiple locks in a row from both uNav and PureMaps?

not multiple. i tried each only one time.
i was playing with both also the day before. that resulted in having this puremaps-thing set up/aktivated with a token.
And they fitted in their goal. they both showed the same point, nearly 350meters away from the phone (and me).
That was the same point as when i tried in pmOS before.
so that made me smile

RE: Testing GPS - pjsf - 05-20-2020

No joy for me, unav initially thought i was in Sweden then Luxembourg ( I'm in Australia). Puremaps put me somewwhere off the Cote d'ivoire. Also my 4g reception immediately died and I had to switch to 3g to get any reception, this didn't change gps behaviour. Switching back to "2g, 3g, 4g (preferred)" bought back 4 bars of 4g. The 4g settings have been a bit weird in UBports for the last month, it used to work fine but now doesn't automatically find my carrier - I have to go to settings and reselect Automatic carrier selection (which is already selected) before it starts to work. Also when I switch back to Mobian the "2g, 3g, 4g (preferred)" setting has changed to 4g only - which doesn't work until I set it back.

RE: Testing GPS - somken - 05-21-2020

Unable to get uNav working, but when I use "SensorsStatus" from the store the GPS tab does show me my latitude / longitude.

RE: Testing GPS - Luke - 05-21-2020

You gotta love it: for some it flat-out doesn't work, for others (me) it works now and then on occasion, and yet for others it works fine Smile
My uneducated guess is that it actually has something to do with how well GPSA works on a particular network - will see what Marius thinks about my theory
