No audio - evj - 04-20-2020

No audio on PBP as delivered. Read message about trying with another operating system. After much trouble I succeeded in booting OpenSuse (from microSD); still no sound. Am I not doing something (in config files), or have I got bad hardware?

In a terminal enter "sudo alsamixer". You will see the soundcard settings. On my PBP running Manjaro, the left most slider reading "headphone" is set to 0 by default. Setting it to 100 and pressing "ESC" to exit and I have normal sound.
You can store the settings using "sudo alsactl store", but they will be lost on reboot. Entering "sudo alsactl restore" brings them back. I have not found a way to get alsamixer to load these stored settings by default.
