Could the display be replaced/upgraded? - Ilia3101 - 03-11-2020 I've been wishing for a better display on the pinebook pro, something with better colour. Is a display upgrade possible? What are the requirements for a panel to be compatible? I saw a thread about display upgrades on the normal pinebook, but no results were posted by anyone. RE: Could the display be replaced/upgraded? - Ilia3101 - 03-12-2020 I found these specs on the Wiki:
Would any 14 inch panel with a 30 pin eDP connection work? Does it have to also be 6 bit? RE: Could the display be replaced/upgraded? - tophneal - 03-12-2020 I'm afraid I don't have answers to your question, but if your colors are off, have you looked into calibrating the display panel and generating a new .icc? As a developer I am quite accustomed to the increased vertical resolution. I understand the economics of 1920x1080 but watching videos is not the only use for the PBP. RE: Could the display be replaced/upgraded? - Ilia3101 - 03-12-2020 @crusty Would be nice to have 16:10 but that would require some bezel cutting/modification @tophneal I don't own a calibrator. If I get my hands on one I'll make an icc for the pbp. But I would still want to upgrade the panel. Most software doesn't respect icc profiles, so I like having a screen that's close to sRGB. I might try a b140han01 .2 or .3 panel, they sell cheap second hand. |
