Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - Tetterl - 03-11-2020 Hello community I want use my Rock64 as TvHeadend. What is the best image to do this? I dont have experience with this. I tried Libreelec, I seen to run unstable and slow, compared to my Odroid C2. Android Images, I found only Android TV Images on download site, running Kodi even more slow. So I stopped using the Rock64 for Kodi. But I wrote that TvHeadend works well on Rock64. I want to use it for IPTV and possible DVB S. What is the most stable and fast Image to install/use TvHeadend? Debian Stretch, Ubuntu or Libreelec? I want to use it with Timeshift and recording on USB 3.0 HDD. By the way, does the hardware allow transcoding? I own a 64GB eMMC on a Rock64 v2.0 Thanks a lot for your help!!! Tetterl RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - tophneal - 03-11-2020 I've had good luck with TvHeadend on several similar boards, running Debian or Ubuntu. RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - Tetterl - 03-11-2020 Do I need a Desktop Version of Debian or Ubuntu, or is a minimal Version enough? RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - Rocklobster - 03-11-2020 Ubuntu appears to be the most stable. Have a look here for yourself and decide http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - tophneal - 03-11-2020 (03-11-2020, 08:07 AM)Tetterl Wrote: Do I need a Desktop Version of Debian or Ubuntu, or is a minimal Version enough? minimal will do just fine. All TvHeadend configuration is done through a local webpage, so you won't need it to have any desktop. The site will be accessible through any other computer on your network with a web browser. RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - Rocklobster - 03-11-2020 What hardware do you propose to use for DVB-S RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - Tetterl - 03-11-2020 @Rocklobster No idea, DVD-S only option yet. Any suggestions? @tophneal Thanks, so I will take this image: Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic minimal 64bit (arm64) Image [microSD / eMMC Boot] [0.8.3] RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - tophneal - 03-11-2020 (03-11-2020, 12:18 PM)Tetterl Wrote: @Rocklobster Most modern ones will likely work. I've had good experiences with Hauppauge and AVerMedia dongles with TVH. RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - Rocklobster - 03-11-2020 Hauppage USB but research here on Ubuntu drivers. Can be a bit temperamental https://hauppauge.com/pages/support/support_linux.html RE: Best Solution to run a TvHeadend on Rock64? - tophneal - 03-11-2020 (03-11-2020, 01:32 PM)Rocklobster Wrote: Hauppage USB but research here on Ubuntu drivers. I have one of the most temperamental ones they make (only supposed to support Windows and NVidia Shield TV, and the drivers gave no problems on Ubuntu/Armbian. Their support is also very helpful, last time I reached out, the person who responded was the writer/maintainer of the Linux drivers. |
