Dear community, please help - Luke - 02-19-2020

Hi everyone,

We need your help. We need two things

1) creating a document based on feedback from one of the EU customs, so that issues with importing production PinePhones into the EU are averted in the future. FYI, production phones will have the necessary certificates, including CE RED. If one of you has any experience in writing such blurbs/ documents, or wants to have a shot at writing it, please do so in English so we can all have a look at it.

2) Once we have a submission in English and we're happy with it, then I'll ask you to translate it into your native tongue (any EU language is appreciated).

Consider this a working thread, where we ping-pong ideas and anyone can contribute, building and changing the phrasing of what others have written. Perhaps the wiki or some other utility would be better for this purpose? if yes, then do not hesitate to set up such an instance.

Quote:The placing on the market is prohibited. It is a non-compliant product. A re-export can be approved.
Details / risk assessment:
For these reasons, the provision, commissioning or use is not permitted [FuAG §7].
The EC Declaration of Conformity (KE) or its location is missing. For products relevant to FuAG, the declaration of conformity must be enclosed with the device. Alternatively, a declaration by the manufacturer on compliance with the basic requirements of RED Directive 2014/53 / EU can be given in conjunction with a reference to request the declaration of conformity [FuAG §20 (2)].
Instructions for use (in particular the instructions for initial start-up) in native language are missing and the safety-related information (e.g. warnings about the batteries) is not in German - this means that important information for safe and intended use is withheld from the user [FuAG §20 (1)].

Easy. See here, Appendix VI: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32014L0053&from=GA
Unfortunately, you'll need to take Appendix V into account, too.
Furthermore, please state the frequencies uses.
You probably want to copy the whole stuff from some other phone.

A starter could be the Quick Start Guide for the Librem 5 which can be found at https://developer.puri.sm/Librem5/_downloads/Librem5-Quick-Start-1.1.0.pdf

The document itself is under CC BY-SA license - I think it would be a good idea to follow this lead.

Another more complete manual from the GTA04A4 project under CC-BY-NC-SA license can be found at
https://projects.goldelico.com/p/gta04-main/downloads/get/GTA04A4-4_System_Manual_Complete.pdf

and includes sections about product safety and legal information.

That would be the user guide that you can't copy entirely because there is no OS coming with the brave heart batch. But the first pages, showing the device, can be used. Apart from that it should be sufficient to state that this is a devices intended for developers and that the usage depends on the OS you're installing. We still need a document based on appendix VI.

I am a professional German translator (although I am sure we have a few experts here already).

Another user guide with all the necessary parts came with the Xiaomi Mi A3 I bought recently - translations for French, Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese are available. Maybe this could be used as a template.

Here's the link for the English version: https://i01.appmifile.com/webfile/globalimg/Global_UG/Mi_Smartphone/Mi_A3/en_V1.pdf

Thanks. We need to make sure our documents include at least something similiar to pages:
1
2 (card tray) to 3 top (max volume)
4 bottom to 5 bottom (bands)

FCC stuff is for US.

Thank you all! I'll take a stab at writing up a draft tomorrow or Monday - perhaps it will be easier for us to work from there.
