Keyboard Loses Focus While typing - nomadicoder - 01-17-2020
I received my PineBook Pro this week and so far it's living up to expectations, and it is good value for the price.
I have encountered one problem, and that is while typing in a text field on any app or in a Mate Terminal, the application has a habit of losing focus after I type a few characters. I'll be typing away and the window hides under another application, and I loose subsequently typed characters. I then have to stop, find the window I was typing on and bring it to focus and continue. I've been careful to keep my hand away from the track pad, but have not yet figured out what is causing this. Any advice?

I found the problem. It's my typing technique. It turns out my edge of my right palm was brushing the trackpad triggering a mouse click. I need to improve my typing habits of keeping my wrists off the laptop surface. Makes me a better typist too.

This probably isn't news to you, but this setting might help: Mouse Preferences > Touchpad > General > Disable touchpad while typing.

This issue is fixed by updating the keyboard / trackpad firmware.

I probably replied too soon, because I was still seeing evidence of focus loss.
Thanks Luke. I just did the update and it seems to be working better. I'm also changing my typing technique too, since I think I'm more accurate when I keep my wrist up. I'll post back if the problem recurs.

I have run the update. In Debian and I ran it again after putting Bionic on the eMMC
